Green hairstreaks are usually found where there is either Gorse or broom mixed with Hawthorn and other shrubs and don't fly up and down like the common butterflies such as whites and peacocks, they stay in the area where they hatch and sunbath on the leaves and may flowers. They are very tiny and you have to be quick to see them. We are going to have a decent day today here in south essex so i'm going to get out while the sun shines, as they say!
I have never seen this butterfly. Yes the sun does help bring them out. Does not look t good for tomorrow though. Margaret
