saturday 2nd feb more Redpolls and Siskins

Goldfinches are probably our most colourful finch among colourfull finches,   but the Redpolls and Siskins do not have such as high a profile,   which makes them more facinating for me to seek out and watch.    The Redpolls can have quite varied plumages as seen here in these photo's from the Valley.   Sometimes you can be standing right in front of them feeding on Alders and still not notice them until they leave on mass with a subdued  mesmerising twittering.   Beautiful creatures.

Hmmm!

Male Siskin,  What a smart bird.
